Hazbin Hotel's Creator Is Aware of Your Season 2 Predictions — And She Has Good News
The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform this week, and fan speculation has been rampant.
The first season presents a large cast of personalities living within the afterlife, sets them at odds with musical numbers about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator stated recently. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a couple people create a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on October 29.
