The winter recruitment period is always a time of significant speculation and potential major transfers. A number of notable stars are being linked with transfers out of their current teams. We examine some of the top figures who might be on the move this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' failure to reach the AFCON, which has left the player available, reports suggest an important transfer is close. This Bournemouth attacker has a contract featuring a substantial buy-out clause applicable for a two-week period in early January. Recent reports indicate Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. Marc Guéhi

This England defender has continued to impress for Palace this season a previous move to Anfield collapsing. With his deal set to expire in the close season, this represents the London club's last chance to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous elite sides, including Manchester City and multiple European giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. Yet, a January exit remains difficult, particularly given the coach's dependence on the player.

B. Johnson

This Welsh winger has found starting opportunities limited at Spurs this term. Although being the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, Johnson has started just a small number of league games. Reports suggest the North London club would be willing to consider a transfer for the correct price, thought to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace additionally showing an inquiry.

Spurs value the Welsh international at approximately forty million pounds.

Rúben Neves

The Portuguese playmaker might be set for a return to the Premier League following a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still only 28, and with his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he represents a potential opportunity. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool have been connected to the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spain that he is willing to accept a reduced salary for a switch to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The experienced Germany goalkeeper finds himself as third-choice at Barcelona under the coach Flick. After fallen out of favour and had an operation, a January exit seems increasingly likely. Villa were once mentioned as a possible destination, but that option currently seems unlikely. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be expressing interest in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

This prolific England centre-forward has kept finding the net regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might boost his fading chances of being in the national squad. However, securing a deal poses major hurdles. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his reported enormous salary render any agreement complicated. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton have all been mentioned as admirers.

C. Gallagher

The energetic English midfielder drew considerable attention in the summer but stayed at Atlético Madrid. Harvey Elliott

Although excelling and winning player of the tournament at the Under-21 European Championship last summer, the talented midfielder has found it tough for game time on loan at Villa. The manager has stated the temporary transfer will not be made permanent. Because of FIFA regulations about representing multiple teams in a season, a return to his parent club prior to next summer seems to be the sole available outcome.

K. Yildiz

The highly-rated Turkish forward is in fine form for the Italian giants this term. With his current deal running down, a host of Premier League sides – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the developments. The Turin club are eager to secure the youngster to a lengthy agreement but are in a battle to keep one of the continent's most promising young talents.

K. Smit

This highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. After impressing at the U19 Euros, he has broken into the AZ side. The teenager is widely tipped to complete a major move in January. Newcastle United are believed to be frontrunners, but could face strong competition from Real Madrid for a deal valued at approximately £22 million.
